Visual Stories

Every moment in life is transient. This alone is reason enough to celebrate, document and capture it for posterity.

Beauty everywhere

Every moment of the day throws up something to cherish. I particularly love mornings and evenings (just like every random guy with a camera). My particular love for this time is to capture mundane things from a different perspective. No other time of the day offers this capability.

A dying Devil's Ivy leaf hanging from our balcony is something we hardly care about everyday. Illuminated from behind by the morning sunlight, this dried leaf transforms to a magical golden canvas. Every vein, blemish and wrinkle is accentuated and the edges have a surreal glow. Spot metering on the lit portion of the leaf blurs out the background almost completely setting up a beautiful natural canvas.

To me, these are moments, that provide the inspiration and reason for me to have taken up photography. Nature has a vibrant canvas that offers limitless inspiration for those with the eye to perceive.

Double the beauty

When it rains, it pours. With the smaller focal length lens I was able to capture two similar leaves in the same light. With spot metering and locking focus on the leaf to the right provides a different perspective to the scenario. The background bokeh only adds to the magic of the morning scene.

This captures my philosophy for capturing nature. I do not like to set up a scene with artificial lighting or perspective. Capturing everyday scenes from a different perspective and in different lighting is what gets me going.
